What to do when you’re being “ghosted”?

The most reported incidences of being ghosted: not having emails or calls returned. Anecdotal research suggests 3 options to handle the offense:

  1. Assume they don’t give you the time of the day because they think you’re “unworthy”. This is the most destructive of the 3 options.
  2. Give them the benefit of the doubt and follow up. “Accidental ghosting” does happen, especially on mobile.
  3. Let it go. Make a mental note to graciously say “no” in your own communications so you never become the protagonist in a story about your ghosting someone else.

Most people try more than one of these options. In fact, these options work more like stages to progress through (anger-hope-healing). Here’s a post about the motives behind ghosting.
