How to cultivate a distinctive personal style as a speaker?

Personal style = Reconciling who you think you are vs. others’ PERCEPTION of you. Cultivate your distinctive style 3 ways:

  1. Few people fully embrace who they are until they imitate others ➡️ fail ➡️ reflect. So experiment! Don’t think you’re funny? Practice a few jokes. Everyone’s talking AI? Update your content. You won’t know what you can handle until you test your limit.
  2. Cultivating style ≠ faking it. Self-doubt shows, and can trigger the audience to turn on you. A distinctive personal style thrives on authenticity.
  3. Not all feedback feeds your destiny. Don’t rely exclusively on one source for feedback. Get additive feedback so the noise of perceptions gets quieter, here’s a progression: audience ➡️ client ➡️ coach ➡️ your values aka your personal style.
