First, decide what you want the presentation to accomplish for the audience: to be informed, to agree with you, to take action, or all three! Let’s say you want clear and coherent messaging to persuade the audience to oppose [something]. Devise 3 parts: opening, body & conclusion:
- State [something] is wrong and you’ll talk about how to make it right.
- Give the audience plenty of reasons to oppose [something], e.g., statistics, a personal story on why you care, and describe what’ll happen if the wrong is not corrected (the consequence) AND the promising future when they oppose [something] (the reward).
- End with a Call to Action! Tell them exactly what you want them to do. Even if the audience is not immediately swayed, your clear and coherent message will be hard to forget!
