Timing is everything! Engage and motivate your project team 3 ways in project presentations:
- Time your presentation. The longer it is, the less people pay attention.
- Time your point. Sociolinguistics research shows that English speakers prefer to present their main points before going into the details. (That’s why Americans tend to focus on the beginning part as the most crucial.) Speakers of Asian languages tend to introduce their main points later, after providing details. So, get to the point, but plan when to make your point depending on your audience.
- Time your action items. End your project presentation with a summary of the main points tied to dates. We PMPs (search by “Mandy Sha”) know that a schedule transforms the project from talking points to action points!
