How to network effectively at a conference?

Showing up is half the work for conference networking! Here’re 3 ways to make the most out of your conference experience:

  1. Don’t stress about saying something memorable. Asking good questions makes you even more memorable, so listen before asking.
  2. Build your conference schedule around the sessions and people that interest you the most. And don’t underestimate conference volunteer opportunities – they’re a low-lift efforts to be seen and to see what’s who, while making a valuable contribution.
  3. Fewer people hand out business cards these days, so they make you stand out when you do! If someone doesn’t have a card to exchange, make it an entrée to add them to your LinkedIn network or to set up a followup appointment to connect after the conference.
