Multitasking is unsupported by science – our mind & brain lack the structure to juggle tasks. Try 3 time management strategies instead:
- Identify what discrete and shared tasks are on each project. It’s possible that you can tackle similar tasks across projects, for example, when creating a project charter for each project, they may share elements that you can copy and paste.
- If your projects involve creative problem solving, multitasking could be beneficial because by switching between tasks, you dwell less on a single problem and focus more on making dynamic connections.
- Communication is a time management tool! What wreaks havoc more than a missed deadline is missed communication because it affects people dynamics and expectations. Set your team’s expectations by communicating your progress and deviations to expected timeline and alternate solutions!
