Nothing turns the audience off more than a confused speaker! Make screen sharing work in your online presentation’s favor with 3 considerations:
- Know which button to push & where. They aren’t labeled the same, e.g. ‘Share Screen’ on Zoom, ‘present now’ on GoogleMeet.
- Don’t start your online presentation saying “let me launch my slides”. YOU are the reason people are watching, not just your slides. Immediate screenshare relegates you to a tiny thumbnail and some platforms even auto-hides you.
- Content is king, technology is the golden carriage! Slides/image/web/video surely stimulate audience interest; ultimately, they want a king that imparts knowledge and inspires them to reach for the stars. So only screen share (and keep it up) if it enhances your message.
