Scientifically speaking, your physiological makeup, such as the size of your vocal cord and sex/age that you are born with, determine how you sound. If you are a non-native speaker, your natural accent also affects vocal delivery. You can still make adjustments 3 ways:
- It’s possible to control your pitch, cadence, and volume. So, practice!!! Practice makes progress.
- For non-native speakers, acquiring an American English accent is near impossible after puberty, but you can improve your speech through mouthing, intonation, and vocabulary.
- Before a big presentation, try to avoid juice (builds up mucus), coffee (dries your throat), and alcohol (dehydrates you). Hydrate with water to sound your best!
