You don’t have to be a data scientist to acquire data literacy specific to your job! Enable your team 3 ways:
- Fancy ≠ most useful. Select analytics tools the team will most likely USE. (Think of how many times employees abandon a robust tool in favor of simple spreadsheets/tables because they’re easier to use/learn).
- Provide custom training so the use cases are directly relevant to the team’s data literacy needs: interpret, collect, buy, sell, analyze, or present? Alternatively, there’re SO MANY online courses to choose from to fill the gap between the team’s current data skills vs. where they should be for their job.
- Validate, not intimidate! Regularly communicate business needs and value using data STORIES + ethical implications. Be a data literacy role model!
