What doesn’t kill you make you stronger. Try 3 pivots to bounce back from a bad public speaking experience:
- Ask for specific feedFORWARD to focus on the future rather than what you can’t change in the past. Like feedback, they’ll be hard to hear so don’t ask unless you can stay open + not defensive. The beauty about feedforward is that the future hasn’t taken place (no bad public speaking!) and you are in complete control.
- Exploit the risk. Many speakers turned their pain into very successful material to stand out with authenticity and self-deprecating humor. But if you still get very emotional about what happened with a bad public speaking experience, you’re not ready to tell your story – you’re still processing and healing.
- Don’t give up! DON’T give up! DON’T GIVE UP! Choose your destiny, no one else can do it for you but you. You will bounce back from bad public speaking. What doesn’t kill you make you stronger. You got this!
