Regardless of your IQ EQ SQ, you can train and improve your analytical skills 3 ways:
- Concept before software. I often hear people say they must be good at X software in order to be good at Y analysis. The truth is the software facilitates and automates, it does not replace you who must master the underlying, foundational concept that drives how “good” you are at the analysis. To take full advantage of technology, get familiar with the quality & quantity of data, information, and evidence.
- MOOCs. These days, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) make it affordable – most are free! Learn and improve new analytical skills at your own schedule, pace, and location.
- Just do it! Improve your analytical skills by tackling real world problems. Make it an ongoing exercise to sharpen your analytical mind and critical thinking.
