How to stimulate analytical thinking with emotions?

Emotions remind ourselves and others that our acumen does not make us superhuman. Here’re 3 ways to stimulate analytical thinking with emotions:

  1. Allow yourself to be vulnerable. Some studies suggest that emotional tears release stress hormones related to our body’s natural painkiller endorphins. So, crying helps to restore your health so you can stimulate analytical thinking!
  2. Allow possibilities. Stop declaring to yourself that “it’s not personal, it’s business”. Instead, query “am I taking it personally?” A query is much easier to do than a declaration and acknowledges that your instinct may not align with data.
  3. Allow exceptions. Being analytical does not mean you must be perfect. Show mercy, express empathy, and give yourself a break. It’s OK.

Analytical thinking is not reserved for machines, human emotions can stimulate it!
