How to follow up effectively after presenting your findings to your team?

Post-presentation followup enhances your credibility. Here’re 3 ways to effective follow up with your team after presenting:

  1. Do not administer a survey if you’re looking for commentary in specific areas. You’ll gain more directly relevant insights by asking a knowledgeable colleague, the event host, or a presenter coach.
  2. Distribute a “take home” slide deck that summarizes the content. Don’t give the actual presentation slides because they can appear to be many slides. Caveat: You never know how far it’ll circulate, so double check that the take-home version doesn’t contain copyrighted materials, e.g. image downloaded from the internet.
  3. If you give out your contact information, consider also sharing other open-access presentations, publications, or findings that you authored/contributed. Doing so not only provides more value to the audience, it also disseminates more of your work.

When you follow up with the audience, make it an effective opportunity to leave an impression after presenting!
