A compelling story and narrative uses more than words. Consider adding 3 techniques to your repertoire:
- Who’s the guide in the story? We spend so much time developing the protagonist, sometimes we forget the guide who inspired their transformation. Few of us can get where we are all by ourselves so it makes the narrative more compelling to integrate the guide’s quotes, actions, or even questions.
- Words become gratuitous when your audience’s imaginations tell better stories, e.g., the gore is scary in a thriller but the psychological scare is always more memorable because it keeps you guessing.
- If the story is long, break it down to several mini-anecdotes. People’s attention span is short these days so keep the audience interested/engaged!
